Created by the 1940 merger of The Kentucky Advocate, founded in 1843, and The Danville Daily-Messenger, founded in 1910. It was owned by Schurz Communications from 1978 to 2016, then acquired by Boone/Bluegrass Newsmedia. Printing operations were consolidated in Winchester in 2013.
The Advocate-Messenger reports on local government, schools, business, sports and community life across Danville and Boyle County.
