About IJGlobal

IJGlobal is a London-headquartered infrastructure and energy finance news, data and events service founded in 1997, read by banks, law firms, investors and project sponsors worldwide. It describes itself as a single source of data, intelligence and analysis covering all aspects of the international infrastructure and energy finance industry, delivering news, transaction and investor and fund data, and events through a comprehensive database encompassing all infrastructure transaction participants, exclusive daily news and live league-table rankings. In 2024 it was acquired by Green Street, the commercial real estate intelligence firm, from the Delinian group. It publishes from ijglobal.com.

Founding in 1997

IJGlobal was founded in 1997 in London, at the height of the first great wave of privately financed infrastructure. The UK's Private Finance Initiative was in full flow, project finance was becoming a global discipline, and the professionals structuring, lending to and advising on infrastructure deals needed a dedicated intelligence service. IJGlobal supplied it: news of the deals being done, data on who was financing them, and analysis of where the market was heading.

The timing gave the company a front-row seat to the globalisation of infrastructure finance. From British PFI hospitals and roads, the market expanded into European renewables, Asian power projects, Latin American transport concessions and Middle Eastern energy and water schemes, and IJGlobal's coverage expanded with it.

The platform: data, news and rankings

The IJGlobal platform combines a transaction database with daily journalism and market rankings. Its published metrics illustrate the scale: more than 60,000 transactions, more than 45,000 assets, more than 4,000 funds, more than 11,000 limited-partner profiles, and more than 200 news stories per week.

The database encompasses all infrastructure transaction participants, allowing subscribers to trace deals from the limited partner's commitment through fundraising, deployment of capital, asset construction and eventual sale or refinancing. The live league-table rankings measure the advisers, lenders and sponsors against one another, creating the competitive benchmarks the industry uses to judge performance.

The news operation

IJGlobal's editorial team produces exclusive daily news on the infrastructure and energy finance markets, with more than 200 stories a week covering deals, fundraisings, policy and personnel across the globe. The journalism is aimed squarely at market participants: the detail that matters to someone structuring, financing or investing in a project, rather than the general business reader.

The editorial team includes journalists such as Manju Dalal, Angus Leslie Melville and Ila Patel, who chair and moderate the company's conferences as well as reporting the market. The dual role of reporter and conference moderator reflects the integrated model of the modern intelligence business, in which journalism, data and events reinforce one another.

Serving the deal community

IJGlobal services a wide range of customer segments, including financial advisers and lenders, legal advisers, development finance institutions, institutional investors, project sponsors and infrastructure funds. The breadth of the client base reflects the collaborative nature of infrastructure finance: a single project may involve a sponsor, multiple lenders, legal and financial advisers, a development finance institution and equity investors, all of whom need the same market intelligence.

The service's value lies in reducing the information asymmetries of a fragmented, relationship-driven market. In a business where deals are bespoke and comparables are scarce, a comprehensive, standardised database of transactions is itself a competitive advantage for its subscribers.

Events: convening the market

IJGlobal's events bring together the investors, sponsors and lenders who use its data. Its conferences examine capital deployment, financing structures and project pipelines, with focused sessions on risk allocation, returns and delivery. The Asia-focused events, for example, have convened leaders from developers, banks, funds and multilateral institutions to discuss market opportunities across ASEAN, Northeast Asia and Australia.

The events business extends the intelligence franchise into the physical world, giving subscribers the meetings and relationships that the data alone cannot provide. Confirmed speakers at its conferences have included senior figures from major developers, banks, funds and institutions such as the World Bank, underlining the service's standing with the market's decision-makers.

Ownership: Delinian to Green Street

IJGlobal was part of the Delinian group, whose chief executive Andrew Pinder described the company's strategy for its portfolio businesses as “invest, grow and divest”. In September 2024 Green Street, the pre-eminent provider of commercial real estate research, news, data, analytics and advisory services in the United States, Canada and Europe, acquired IJGlobal, with the deal announced via Business Wire.

Pinder said Green Street represented a great fit for IJGlobal, offering the business an exciting opportunity to further expand the depth and reach of its infrastructure insights, data and events, with access to resources and expertise within a broader property-level data and analytics ecosystem. For Green Street, nearly 40 years old and built on actionable real-estate intelligence delivered through a SaaS platform, the acquisition added infrastructure and energy finance to its real-assets intelligence offering.

The Green Street era

Under Green Street ownership, IJGlobal has been positioned as the infrastructure and energy intelligence arm of a broader real-assets data business. Green Street's leadership has spoken of providing a complete infrastructure and energy platform solution, helping clients access the critical insights they need to identify investment opportunities, secure more deals and stay ahead of key market drivers.

The combination brings together Green Street's predictive analytics and SaaS delivery with IJGlobal's transaction database and newsroom, a pairing aimed at the institutional investors, banks and lenders who allocate capital across both commercial real estate and infrastructure.

IJGlobal today

Today IJGlobal operates from its London headquarters as a Green Street company, continuing to deliver news, transaction and investor and fund data, and events for the global infrastructure market. Its database of tens of thousands of transactions and assets, its daily news file and its league tables remain the core of the offer, serving the financial advisers, lenders, legal advisers, development finance institutions, investors, sponsors and funds that finance the world's infrastructure.

From a 1997 London start-up serving the PFI market to a global intelligence platform owned by one of the great real-assets data businesses, IJGlobal's history tracks the maturation of infrastructure finance itself: from a niche of project bankers into a mainstream institutional asset class with its own dedicated press, data and deal culture.

League tables and market benchmarks

IJGlobal's live league-table rankings are among its most influential products, measuring the financial advisers, lenders, law firms and sponsors against one another across the infrastructure and energy finance markets. In a relationship-driven business where reputation is currency, the league tables provide the competitive benchmarks the industry uses to judge performance — and to market it.

The rankings draw on the comprehensive database that encompasses all infrastructure transaction participants, the foundation of the platform's claim to be a single source of data, intelligence and analysis. From a limited partner's commitment through fundraising, deployment of capital, asset construction and eventual sale or refinancing, the platform tracks the full lifecycle of infrastructure investment, giving subscribers a continuous view of who is doing what, with whom, and on what terms.

Convening the market: IJGlobal events

IJGlobal's conferences put its data and journalism into the room with the market. Its Asia-focused events, examining capital deployment, financing structures and project pipelines across the region, have convened leaders from developers, banks, funds and multilateral institutions — with confirmed speakers including senior figures from JERA Asia, Keppel, Acciona Energía, Siemens Bank, Pentagreen Capital, Octopus Energy Generation, AirTrunk, Marubeni, Brookfield, GIC, KKR, ESR Group, BluPine Energy, Infrastructure Asia, Actis, TotalEnergies, HSBC and the World Bank.

The agendas reflect the market's preoccupations: building resilient assets through risk allocation and structures that hold up under geopolitical stress, in-depth analysis of local markets across ASEAN, Northeast Asia and Australia, and takeaways from live and recent transactions. The editorial team chairs and moderates the sessions, closing the loop between the journalism subscribers read and the conversations that shape the market.
