About Top Magazin München
Top Magazin München
Top Magazin München is the Munich regional edition of Top Magazin, the nationwide German lifestyle magazine network published as a license system with 32 regional editions and a combined quarterly circulation of around 320,000 copies. The Munich edition is published by the Verlag Fedra Sayegh at Vollmannstrasse 40 in 81927 Munich, with a print run of 12,000 copies per issue at a cover price of 6.50 euros, and it is one of the ten largest metropolitan editions bundled in the top10 advertising combination that reaches the ten biggest German cities in a single booking.
Overview
The top10 combination is the Munich edition's national advertising vehicle: a magazine special section of up to several pages in the same magazine layout, bound into the ten largest metropolitan editions and sold as one combination booking. For the Munich edition, the national rate card marks it as a top10 edition with partial travel editorial coverage, the Teilbelegung Reiseredaktionen the rate card notes. The combination's total quarterly reach, in the rate card's terms, aggregates the ten editions' circulations including the ePaper.
The Munich edition's 12,000-copy print run places it among the larger regional editions in the network's 6,000 to 25,000 range, reflecting Munich's weight as Germany's southern metropolitan publishing market and the Bavarian capital's affluent readership. The 6.50 euro cover price sits above the 5 euro price of smaller editions such as Münster, marking the Munich edition's premium metropolitan positioning.
The quarterly rhythm gives the magazine its coffee-table-book character: each issue stays current for three months, with the spring, summer, autumn, and winter editions timed to the seasons' events, fashions, and business cycles. The fixed publication dates, with advertising deadlines several weeks ahead, give media planners the planning security the network's advertising materials emphasize.
Top Magazin München is a glossy quarterly lifestyle magazine for the Munich metropolitan region. It appears four times a year with a circulation of 12,000 copies per issue, including the ePaper, at a cover price of 6.50 euros. The publisher is Fedra Sayegh, the Verlegerin, with Conny Konzack as editor-in-chief, the Chefredakteur named in the national rate card.
The Munich edition belongs to the top10 combination: the special advertising section, in the same magazine layout, that is bound into the ten largest metropolitan editions, Hamburg, Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, Ruhr Essen, and Stuttgart, bookable as a single national combination. The quarterly issue rhythm follows the national schedule: the spring issue in February and March, the summer issue in May and June, the autumn issue in August and September, and the winter issue in November and December, with advertising and print deadlines set for each quarter.
History
The Top Magazin brand was founded by Lothar Neuse, with the first issue appearing in autumn 1982 as Top Magazin Düsseldorf, published by the Verlag Top of the Tops and Top Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Düsseldorf. Seventeen further locations followed: Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Wuppertal, Munich, Aachen, Essen, Berlin, Saarland, Neuss, Dortmund, Koblenz, Bielefeld, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Bremen, and Bonn.
In 1990, Neuse sold Top of the Tops to Jürgen Modrow, who expanded the magazine into a franchise system and added new locations such as Rhine-Neckar and Dresden. In 1996, Modrow sold the franchise system to Thomas Schneider, who reshaped it into a nationwide license system through the Top of the Tops and Top Magazin International GmbH and Co. Verlags- und Lizenz KG. In 2006, Ralf Kern joined the company as managing director with a 49 percent stake and took over operations. After the departure of the shareholder Thomas Schneider, Kern led the license network through the pandemic as the sole managing partner; only a few regional editions, Bremen and Würzburg, had to be discontinued. In 2024, Top Magazin is published at 32 locations with a total quarterly circulation of around 320,000 copies.
Coverage and Content
The metropolitan edition's editorial focus is the Munich society and business world: the people, the events, the gastronomy, and the culture that define the Bavarian capital's public life. The national concept's regional reporting renders these themes through the Munich lens, with the national lifestyle coverage supplying the shared foundation that the 32 license partners draw on for their print magazines, the online portal, and the social media channels.
The reader statements the media data quote describe the magazine's role in its readers' lives: the regional gala, the lifestyle magazine, the coffee-table book, the information source. The great paper quality, the appealing design, the pleasant readability, the good table of contents, the regional event calendar, and the exclusive online content are the qualities the readers name, with the regional editorial teams and the behind-the-scenes view completing the picture. The Munich edition serves that expectation with its quarterly people, event, and business journalism.
