About OneSoccer

OneSoccer

Overview

OneSoccer is a Canadian soccer channel and subscription streaming service that serves as the dedicated home of Canadian soccer. It carries every match of the Canadian Premier League (CPL), the Canadian Championship, home matches of Canada's men's and women's national teams, and Concacaf competitions including the Concacaf Champions Cup, the Concacaf Nations League and the Gold Cup, alongside international properties such as Germany's Bundesliga and the U.S.-based National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). OneSoccer launched on April 26, 2019, as an online-only service created by Mediapro Canada, and added linear television distribution in September 2021. Since the end of 2024 it has been owned by Timeless, Inc., a company affiliated with Canadian Soccer Business (now Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment) and the CPL. An important note on the record: although OneSoccer was founded and first operated by the Spanish media group Mediapro, Mediapro withdrew from the service at the end of December 2024 following a legal settlement, and no longer operates it.

History

OneSoccer grew out of a reorganisation of Canadian soccer's commercial rights. In February and March 2019, the Canadian Premier League and the Canadian Soccer Association created Canadian Soccer Business (CSB) to represent the commercial assets of Canada Soccer and the CPL, and CSB signed a ten-year agreement with Mediapro under which the Spanish group held the media rights to the CPL, the Canadian Championship and Canada's national teams. In April 2019 Mediapro announced that those rights would be housed in a new 24/7 live and on-demand service, OneSoccer, which launched online on April 26, 2019, streaming its first live match — the CPL's inaugural game between Forge FC and York9 FC at Hamilton's Tim Hortons Field — the following day. Mediapro Canada produced more than 300 soccer broadcasts in the service's first season, building its production operation in part through the acquisition of Tri-Lite TV, an established Ontario broadcast services company, and the CBC simulcast 22 CPL matches nationally during the 2019 season.

Because Mediapro, as a foreign company, could not hold a Canadian broadcasting licence, the linear channel operated as an exempted discretionary service owned by Timeless, Inc., a majority-Canadian company led by Scott Mitchell, chairman of the CPL and CSB, with Mediapro responsible for day-to-day operations; the CRTC ruled that the arrangement complied with its ownership rules because Timeless held effective control. In September 2021 OneSoccer joined the FuboTV streaming package in Canada and reached its first linear carriage agreement, with Telus, whose Optik TV service carried it in western Canada. On August 5, 2022, OneSoccer complained to the CRTC that Rogers Communications was refusing to carry it to protect its own Sportsnet service; on March 23, 2023, the CRTC found that Rogers had indeed given undue preference to Sportsnet and to other independent broadcasters.

In January 2024, five years into the ten-year agreement, CSB withdrew its contract from Mediapro, alleging missed rights payments for 2023 and insufficient efforts to sublicense linear rights, while Mediapro countered that CSB had failed to deliver promised expansion and match targets. Both sides sued in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The dispute did not interrupt OneSoccer's programming, and in June 2024 the parties settled out of court: Mediapro transferred all OneSoccer online service assets, intellectual property and associated rights to Timeless, Inc., and provided production and technical services only through the end of 2024. From 2025, production of OneSoccer was taken over by the Canadian company Octapixx Media (Protocol), announced as the service's new production partner, and in March 2025 OneSoccer reached an agreement with TSN under which TSN would simulcast and co-produce coverage of the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals and select CPL matches.

Programming and Content

OneSoccer's schedule is anchored by live match coverage. It broadcasts every Canadian Premier League match, the Canadian Championship, and Canada Soccer national team fixtures, and it is the Canadian home of Concacaf's club and national team tournaments, including the Champions Cup, the Nations League and the Gold Cup, with rights to the Concacaf W Qualifiers and the Concacaf W Championship for the women's game confirmed in a February 2026 extension agreed between Concacaf and Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment (CSME), under which coverage is sublicensed to OneSoccer. Its international portfolio has also included the Bundesliga and the NWSL, and it has carried selected matches from the League1 Canada semi-professional leagues for men and women. Around the matches, OneSoccer produces daily news and magazine programming, pre- and post-match coverage, interviews and analysis. Its on-air team in 2025 was reported to include Andi Petrillo, Kristian Jack, Gareth Wheeler, Oliver Platt, Jordan Wilson and Adam Jenkins. CPL releases for the 2026 season continued to identify OneSoccer as the league's official broadcast partner, and its website published coverage of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup involving CPL clubs in February 2026.

Audience and Reach

OneSoccer does not publish subscriber or audience figures, and no independently audited measurements for the service are available; none are claimed here. Its reach can be described in terms of distribution and content. Mediapro's own 2022 material described the linear channel as available to more than one million western Canadians through Telus Optik TV (channel 980), in addition to the streaming service and FuboTV Canada; that figure is the company's own and dates from that period. The same material stated that more than 80 percent of OneSoccer's programming was Canadian content, which it described as the highest proportion of any Canadian sports channel — again, the operator's own characterisation from 2022. The March 2025 agreement with TSN extended selected OneSoccer properties to one of Canada's largest sports networks, widening the audience for the Nations League Finals and featured CPL matches.

Digital Presence

OneSoccer's primary home is its subscription streaming service at onesoccer.ca, available through web browsers and on Roku, Chromecast and Apple TV devices, with apps for iOS and Android. The service supplements its live and on-demand coverage with written news and analysis on the same site. It maintains an extensive social presence on YouTube — where it streams some content such as tournament draws free of charge — as well as Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter) and TikTok, publishing news, interviews and match clips. OneSoccer also operates as a linear channel, carried by Telus Optik TV in western Canada and offered through FuboTV in Canada.

Ownership and Organisation

OneSoccer is owned by Timeless, Inc., which acquired full ownership of the service's online platform, intellectual property and associated rights under the June 2024 settlement with Mediapro. Timeless is owned by Scott Mitchell, chairman of the Canadian Premier League and of Canadian Soccer Business — the organisation, rebranded Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment (CSME), that holds the commercial and media rights for Canada Soccer and the CPL. Mediapro Canada, which created the service and ran it from 2019, ceased its involvement at the end of December 2024; since 2025, television production for OneSoccer has been handled by Octapixx Media (Protocol) under an agreement announced that year. OneSoccer's operations are based in Toronto, Ontario.

Contact and Availability

OneSoccer is available across Canada by subscription through onesoccer.ca and its apps on iOS, Android, Roku, Chromecast and Apple TV, and as a linear channel on Telus Optik TV (channel 980) in western Canada and through FuboTV Canada; carriage arrangements vary and are updated by the service on its website. Its official website is onesoccer.ca. No public business email address for the service is published in the sources consulted, so none is listed here.
