The Albany Democrat-Herald is a daily newspaper based in Albany, Oregon, serving the Mid-Willamette Valley, including Linn and Benton counties. Published Monday through Saturday, it is the newspaper of record for Albany and the surrounding valley communities.
The newspaper traces its roots to the State Rights Democrat, a weekly launched August 1, 1865. It became a daily in 1888 and absorbed the rival Albany Herald in 1925 to form the Democrat-Herald.
The Democrat-Herald is owned by Iowa-based Lee Enterprises, which acquired it in 1997, and maintains its offices in Albany, Oregon. It publishes a joint Sunday edition, Mid-Valley Sunday, with the Corvallis Gazette-Times.
