About Antenne Wiesbaden

Antenne Wiesbaden

Antenne Wiesbaden is the local radio station for Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse, broadcasting a pop, charts and dance format with a strong local information remit around the clock. Launched on 2 May 2025, the station transmits via DAB+ digital radio and online, positioning itself as "das neue Radio für Wiesbaden" — 24 hours from Wiesbaden for Wiesbaden. Its music promise blends the biggest pop anthems of the eighties with current chart hits and dance tracks, framed by local news, presenter-led daytime shows, specialist evening programmes and a sports desk that has recruited prominent names. The station is operated by antenne WIESBADEN GmbH, based at Berliner Straße 9 in Wiesbaden, with Corinna Sievert as CEO and the veteran presenter Stephan Holler as the launch face of the station.

Overview

Antenne Wiesbaden serves the Hessian state capital: a spa city of nearly 300,000 residents on the Rhine, opposite Mainz, known for its Wilhelmine architecture, the casino, the thermal springs and its role as seat of the state government. The station's programme is built for a young-to-middle-aged urban audience: an upbeat mix of eighties pop hymns with their signature synthesizer sounds, current chart hits and dance tracks, presented as a companion for celebrating, working out or relaxing. Local information is the second pillar: Wiesbaden city news, reports from the state politics quarter, cultural coverage, and service information for the Rhine-Main commuter region.

Distribution is digital: DAB+ in Hesse and the worldwide internet live stream, listed on aggregator platforms and smart speakers. The station broadcasts around the clock with a fully structured schedule, unusual for a newly launched local service. As a commercial private broadcaster, Antenne Wiesbaden is financed through advertising sold to Wiesbaden businesses and regional advertisers.

History

The station was conceived as a new, dedicated local radio for the Hessian capital, a city whose airwaves had long been dominated by statewide and Frankfurt-oriented services. Wiesbaden, as a state capital with its own distinct identity — spa town, administrative centre, casino city — had never had a full-service private local station of its own, and Antenne Wiesbaden was designed to fill that gap with a programme that treats the city as its entire world rather than as a relay area. In the run-up to launch, the station announced its leadership: Corinna Sievert, a Wiesbaden native with more than twenty years in the radio industry — including stations at ARD Werbung, Energy Media, Rockland Radio and Radio Frankfurt — took over as CEO, declaring the goal of making Antenne Wiesbaden a permanent part of the city's media landscape with high-quality content reflecting the diversity and lifestyle of Wiesbaden.

The prominent launch presenter was Stephan Holler, a familiar voice from more than two decades at HIT RADIO FFH, who joined the new station in his adopted hometown of Wiesbaden — calling it his "fifth radio baby". Holler, born in the Oberallgäu, had been part of the launch team of Radio Tele Allgäu at sixteen, trained at Radio F in Nuremberg and was brought to FFH by Hans-Dieter Hillmoth, shaping the Frankfurt station's programme for over twenty years until the end of 2024. The official launch came on Friday, 2 May 2025 at 2 p.m., when the Oberbürgermeister of Wiesbaden symbolically pressed the start button, with Holler at the microphone for the first broadcast. Station chief Vittorio Nobile — also associated with the Rhineland-Palatinate station Antenne Mainz — welcomed the launch. In July 2025 the station expanded its sports coverage with two prominent additions: former ZDF sports journalist Béla Réthy and Wiesbaden's former hockey international Stefan Blöcher, tasked with covering local and national sports topics together.

Programming

The broadcast day is fully presenter-led. "Guten Morgen Wiesbaden" starts the city's day, followed by "Am Vormittag" accompanying listeners through work, study or housework with music, star news, campus coverage and everything moving the Antenne Wiesbaden region. "Der Nachmittag" carries the most music for the city through the afternoon into the evening rush, with regional news, SV Wehen Wiesbaden football coverage, cinema news, leisure tips, traffic and speed-camera reports. The presenters behind these strands include Stephan Holler alongside Christian Scheler, Amina Liedtke and Bruno Ciraudo, a team the station presents as familiar voices for the city. Evenings and nights bring specialist strands: "Die 90er Show" with Heiko Gille looking back weekly at the nineties with Snap, Culture Beat, Haddaway, DJ Bobo, Blümchen and childhood memories; "Der Supermix"; the travel show "Hin Und Weg! – Die Reiseshow"; "Brunosera"; "Der Samstag"; "Kc Clubnight"; the "Antenne Wiesbaden Chartshow"; "Classic-rock Am Montag"; the talk format "Im Talk Mit Volker Pietzsch"; "Sunday Night"; and the nonstop hit mix from DJ Enrico Ostendorf, with "Durch Die Nacht" carrying music nonstop through the night.

Local news and service are woven through the day: Wiesbaden city politics, state government news, cultural life, sport — with the strengthened sports desk around Réthy and Blöcher — weather, traffic and event tips. The station has also taken on civic initiatives: together with the city of Wiesbaden it launched the "Stille Stunde" (quiet hour) initiative on 29 June 2026, bringing the project to radio for the first time. Station actions such as the World Cup oracle — renamed from "Nagel's Mann!" to "Klopp ihn rein!" — add playful listener engagement around major sporting events.

Organization and Ownership

Antenne Wiesbaden is operated by antenne WIESBADEN GmbH, based at Berliner Straße 9, 65189 Wiesbaden. Corinna Sievert has served as CEO, bringing national sales experience from ARD Werbung and Energy Media together with local-radio expertise from Rockland Radio and Radio Frankfurt. The station chief named at launch was Vittorio Nobile. The launch team was built around experienced radio makers, headlined by Stephan Holler, with presenters and DJs including Christian Scheler, Heiko Gille, Bruno Ciraudo, Enrico Ostendorf and Amina Liedtke, and the sports desk reinforced by Béla Réthy and Stefan Blöcher.

Regulatory oversight lies with the Hessische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien, which licenses the station's DAB+ distribution. As a commercial private broadcaster, Antenne Wiesbaden is financed through advertising. Detailed shareholder information has not been publicly confirmed. The station's early years will show whether a city of Wiesbaden's size can sustain a dedicated full-service local station in the streaming era — but with its prominent launch team, its civic partnerships and its round-the-clock local schedule, Antenne Wiesbaden has given itself the strongest possible start.

Digital Presence

The station's website at antenne-wiesbaden.de is the central digital hub, carrying the live internet stream, programme schedule, presenter profiles, Wiesbaden news and event tips. The stream extends the DAB+ footprint worldwide, and the station is listed on all major radio aggregators and smart-speaker platforms. Programme pages describe each show's concept, from the morning show to the nineties retrospective, giving listeners a full picture of the 24-hour schedule.

On social media Antenne Wiesbaden maintains active channels with city news updates, programme highlights, sports coverage and the visual language of a young urban station. The website functions as a compact Wiesbaden news and lifestyle portal alongside its radio role. The station uses its platforms for listener interaction — requests, greetings, competitions and ticket giveaways — and for promoting its civic initiatives such as the "Stille Stunde", giving the digital channels a community-service dimension beyond entertainment. For a station launched in 2025 as a digital-native local brand, the online ecosystem — stream, website, social channels, on-demand elements — was part of the concept from day one: Antenne Wiesbaden presents itself as Wiesbaden's radio on every platform, around the clock.
