GBH News is the news service of GBH, Boston's public media powerhouse — the WGBH Educational Foundation behind PBS staples like Frontline, Nova and Masterpiece, reaching the Greater Boston area across TV, radio and digital.
About GBH News
GBH News is the journalism arm of the WGBH Educational Foundation, doing business as GBH since August 2020. The foundation, established in 1951, is one of America's largest public media organizations, holding the licenses to all of the PBS member stations in Massachusetts — flagship WGBH-TV (channel 2, PBS Boston), sister station WGBX-TV, and NPR member stations including WGBH 89.7 FM and classical WCRB 99.5 FM.Nationally, GBH is known as the distributor of major PBS programs — American Experience, Frontline, Masterpiece, Nova, Antiques Roadshow — and for pioneering closed captioning and audio description for broadcast television. Locally, GBH News operates TV, radio and digital newsrooms covering the Greater Boston area, plus regional services including the GBH News Center for Investigative Reporting.GBH is headquartered at 1 Guest Street in Boston's Brighton neighborhood. In 2026 it announced plans to merge operations with New England Public Media, which would create one of the largest statewide public newsroom networks in Massachusetts.
