About GFF

GFF

GFF – "Das Praxismagazin für Glas Fenster Fassade" – is one of Germany's leading trade magazines for the glass, window, façade and metal industries, published eleven times a year by the Holzmann Medien GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Wörishofen. Appearing for almost 30 years with eleven issues per year (double issue July/August), the magazine is the official organ of the Fachverband Glas Fenster Fassade Baden-Württemberg, the Glaser-Innung Niedersachsen and the Landesinnungsverband des Glaserhandwerks Thüringen. With a print run of 7,000 copies (IVW Q4/2025), GFF is the practice magazine for production and assembly – the trade journal of the glaziers, the window builders, the façade constructors and the metalworkers who shape Germany's transparent building envelopes.

Overview

GFF appears eleven times a year – monthly with a double issue in July/August – published by the Holzmann Medien GmbH & Co. KG, Gewerbestr. 2, 86825 Bad Wörishofen. The 2026 media information documents the key figures: eleven issues per year, monthly frequency (double issue July/August), print run 7,000 copies (IVW Q4/2025) – the independently verified circulation.

The magazine's self-description – "GFF – The Practice Magazine for Production and Assembly" – defines its mission: the practice journal, not the theory journal. The spectrum ranges from float-glass and insulating-glass production to glass processing in window construction, plus all building elements that play a role in the transparent façade.

The magazine understands itself as the specialist organ of the processing crafts through to assembly – but also as the information medium for the connected professional groups: specialist planners, architects and expert assessors. The target readership spans the value chain: the glass processors who cut, temper and laminate; the window manufacturers who build the frames; the façade builders who clad the buildings; the metalworkers who shape the profiles; the glaziers who install the glass – and the planners and architects who specify their products, the experts who assess their work. GFF employs all stylistic forms of the modern trade magazine and offers orientation and utility value as an opinion platform – with the service formats (the "Wunschthema" reader's-choice topic, the "Praxistipp" practice tip) highlighted as specialties.

The association mandate – official organ of the Baden-Württemberg glass-window-façade association, the Lower Saxony glaziers' guild and the Thuringian state guild association of the glazing craft – anchors the magazine in the organized craft: the trade journal that the guilds' members receive and trust.

History

GFF has been one of the leading German trade magazines for its core target groups for almost 30 years – the publishing history that the 2026 media information documents. The magazine established itself as the practice journal of the glass-window-façade-metal industries – the monthly companion of the glaziers and window builders through the sector's transformation: the insulating-glass generations, the thermal-breakthrough regulations (EnEV, GEG), the burglary-resistance standards, the automation of the window production, the digitalization of the craft businesses.

The "Fensterbauer des Jahres" (Window Builder of the Year) award became the brand's industry institution: every two years, the award honors the main prize winner and the particularly innovative companies in the categories of product development/manufacturing and sustainability/energy efficiency. The sixth award ceremony – the third within the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE in Nuremberg – took place in 2026: MB Fensterbau Beelitz (Bad Belzig, Brandenburg) took the overall victory trophy, with Kubasch Fenster und Türen (Mirow, Mecklenburg) also honored. The prize – created by TSG, EBH and Holzmann Medien with its GFF media brand – is presented by GFF editor-in-chief Holger Dirks, who moderated the 2026 ceremony in the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE Forum, with Alexander Holzmann (managing partner of Holzmann Medien) honoring the winners in his opening speech.

The special publications extended the brand into the adjacent target groups: "design+building" for the premium target group of architects – the design-oriented specifiers who decide on the transparent façade's aesthetics; and "glas kompakt | beschattung kompakt" as the industry reference book – the compact knowledge format that provides manufacturers and service providers a tailored environment for a targeted, long-term and sustainable presence.

Content and Sections

The editorial program of GFF follows the glass-window-façade industry's agenda. Production technology covers the manufacturing: the float-glass and insulating-glass production, the glass processing in window construction, the profile systems, the hardware, the sealing systems – the technical substance of the transparent building envelope.

Assembly and installation address the craft: the window installation, the façade assembly, the fastening technology, the safety technology, the machines, plants and tools for windows, doors and façades – the practice knowledge that the "Praxismagazin" promise delivers, from the correct anchoring to the burglary-resistant installation.

The industry news and manufacturer developments report the market: the technical novelties, the company news, the personnel – "aus der Branche für die Branche" (from the industry for the industry), setting topics and questioning current developments.

The service formats – the "Wunschthema" (readers vote on the Wunschthema, influencing the print issue's content – the only industry medium offering this), the "Praxistipp" (practice tip), the "Person des Monats" (person of the month), the buyer's guide – provide the utility journalism that distinguishes the practice magazine.

The trade-fair coverage – from the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE live ticker to the multimedia gallery with image series and exclusive video interviews – documents the industry's meeting places.

The social-media channels – Facebook (gffmagazin), LinkedIn (glas-fenster-fassade-gff), YouTube, Instagram – extend the reporting, with the YouTube channel's FENSTERBAU FRONTALE impressions as the video signature.
