The Herald-Citizen is a newspaper based in Cookeville, Tennessee, serving Putnam County and the Upper Cumberland region. It publishes online five days a week with three print editions per week (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).
The first edition was printed on Feb 11, 1903 as the Putnam County Herald by Elmer Lincoln Wirt and his son Ralph. It merged with the Cookeville Citizen in 1960 and adopted the Herald-Citizen name in 1969.
It was acquired by Paxton Media Group in September 2022.
