About MissMalini
MissMalini is a Mumbai-based digital entertainment and lifestyle media platform and one of the pioneering names of Indian internet culture. Founded in 2008 by Malini Agarwal — known to millions simply as MissMalini — it began as a personal celebrity blog and grew into a full-scale content and influencer-marketing business covering Bollywood, Indian television, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Acquired by the Good Glamm Group in 2021, it changed hands again in April 2025 when marketing agency Creativefuel bought the brand for a reported Rs 6 crore, with Agarwal stepping down as creative director two months later. It continues to operate as a digital lifestyle brand, publishing at missmalini.com.
Overview
MissMalini is an entertainment, fashion and lifestyle media platform headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It publishes celebrity news, Bollywood coverage, fashion and beauty content, and lifestyle features across its website and social channels, and it has long positioned itself as an insider voice on Indian popular culture rather than a distant observer. At its peak under the Good Glamm Group, the business claimed a monthly audience of more than 60 million and over 10 million readers and followers across its network.
The platform grew well beyond a blog. By the early 2020s, MissMalini Entertainment comprised five business verticals: the main content and marketing platform (MissMalini Media), the women's community Girl Tribe by MissMalini, the talent management arm Ignite Edge, the creative agency Agent M Creative, and the production house MM Studios. That structure made it both a media property and a services business — selling content, community, celebrity access and creative production to brands.
History and Founding
MissMalini.com was founded in 2008 by Malini Agarwal as a personal blog about Bollywood and celebrity culture. The timing was early — India's consumer internet was still young, social media had barely taken hold, and the idea of a full-time celebrity blogger was novel. Agarwal wrote with a chatty, affectionate, gossipy-but-kind voice about film stars, parties, fashion sightings and television, and the blog steadily built a devoted readership among young, urban Indians.
What began as a one-woman operation professionalised over the following decade. MissMalini Entertainment was built out as a company, hiring editorial staff, video producers and marketing teams, and expanding from written posts into video, social-first formats, events and brand partnerships. By the late 2010s, MissMalini was among India's first and most recognised lifestyle blogging networks — a first mover in an influencer economy that would later become crowded and institutionalised.
Malini Agarwal: The Founder
Malini Agarwal, born 26 May 1977 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, is an Indian digital influencer, television host, entrepreneur and author. Before founding the blog, she worked as a radio jockey at Radio One in Mumbai and later served as the head of digital content for Channel [v] India — experience that gave her both an on-air persona and an understanding of youth entertainment media.
Agarwal became one of India's earliest and most prominent digital creators, and her personal brand and the MissMalini brand grew together. She has guest-anchored television shows including CNN-IBN's Tech Toyz and UTV Bindass's Style Police, and fronted several seasons of her own shows: MissMalini's World on TLC, Inside Access with MissMalini on Vh1, Kya Scene Hai on Zoom, and Feet Up With the Stars on Voot. Her career arc — from radio to digital video to television and back to digital — maps the evolution of Indian entertainment media itself over two decades.
Content and Coverage
MissMalini's editorial core is celebrity and lifestyle journalism with a distinctive tone. The platform covers Bollywood film news, star spottings, parties and events, Indian television, fashion trends, beauty and lifestyle topics. Its house style has been described as "positive-only" new media — celebratory and insider-friendly rather than adversarial or scandal-driven, a positioning that made it attractive both to readers seeking fun escapism and to celebrities and brands seeking friendly coverage.
That positioning was a commercial choice as much as an editorial one. By cultivating warm relationships with the film industry rather than antagonising it, MissMalini secured access — interviews, event invitations, exclusive photographs — that harder-edged outlets could not, and it converted that access into a business spanning advertising, branded content and talent services.
Television and Media Presence
Beyond the website, Agarwal built a substantial broadcast career that amplified the MissMalini brand. Her television work included guest anchoring CNN-IBN's Tech Toyz and UTV Bindass's Style Police, and her own series across major entertainment channels: MissMalini's World on TLC, Inside Access with MissMalini on Vh1, Kya Scene Hai on Zoom, and Feet Up With the Stars on the streaming platform Voot.
These shows extended the blog's formula — celebrity access, fashion, lifestyle — to television audiences, and they cemented Agarwal's status as a mainstream media personality rather than merely an internet writer. The cross-platform presence was unusual for an Indian digital creator of that era and helped the MissMalini brand reach audiences beyond the blog's core readership.
The Book: To the Moon
In 2018, Agarwal published her debut book, To the Moon: How I Blogged My Way to Bollywood, with HarperCollins India. The memoir recounts her journey from radio jockey to India's best-known celebrity blogger, offering an insider's account of the early Indian influencer economy — the parties, the stars, the business of blogging before "influencer" was a job title.
The book's publication marked a moment of mainstream recognition for digital creators in India: a blogger's memoir from a major publisher, reviewed and covered as a publishing event rather than an internet curiosity. It remains a useful primary document of how India's celebrity-media ecosystem functioned in the 2000s and 2010s.
Business Verticals
By the time of its acquisition in 2021, MissMalini Entertainment had diversified into five verticals. MissMalini Media was the core content and marketing platform. Girl Tribe by MissMalini, founded by Agarwal, was a proprietary networking community for women to connect, share and support one another, with more than 100,000 members. Ignite Edge was the talent management arm, representing influencers and creators. Agent M Creative functioned as a creative agency, and MM Studios as a production house.
The verticals turned the company into a full-stack influencer-marketing operation: it could create content, manage the talent appearing in it, run the community around it and produce the video assets — capturing value at every stage of a brand campaign. That integrated model was precisely what attracted a content-to-commerce buyer.
Acquisition by the Good Glamm Group
In 2021, the Good Glamm Group — the parent company of the direct-to-consumer beauty brand MyGlamm — announced the acquisition of MissMalini Entertainment in a cash-and-stock deal. The companies did not officially disclose the financial terms, though press reports at various times suggested figures ranging from around Rs 3 crore to Rs 70–80 crore, reflecting how little was confirmed about the transaction's structure.
Good Glamm's CEO Darpan Sanghvi framed the deal as a content-to-commerce play: MissMalini offered unprecedented access to a network of celebrities and influencers, deep know-how in the influencer space, and a large engaged audience to which the group's D2C brands — MyGlamm, BabyChakra, The Moms Co. and St. Botanica — could cross-sell. MissMalini Entertainment would continue to operate independently in terms of content while contributing its expertise to the group. After the acquisition, Agarwal also co-founded Good Creator Co., the group's creator-economy venture.
Sale to Creativefuel
The Good Glamm chapter ended amid the group's wider financial distress. As Good Glamm's losses mounted — reported at Rs 917 crore in FY23 — and its valuation collapsed from unicorn heights, the group began divesting its media assets. In April 2025, MissMalini Entertainment was acquired from the Good Glamm Group by Creativefuel, a marketing and content agency founded by brothers Nikhil and Tushar Sukhramani, in a deal reported at Rs 6 crore.
Under the terms of the agreement, Creativefuel took ownership of the MissMalini domain name and its social media assets, while the talent management vertical remained with the Good Glamm Group. For Creativefuel — which had recently acquired the YouTube channels Hasley India and Pataakha — the purchase was part of an aggressive expansion into digital entertainment, adding one of India's most recognisable lifestyle brands and its loyal community to a growing content portfolio.
Founder's Departure and Present Status
In June 2025, two months after the Creativefuel acquisition, Malini Agarwal stepped down as creative director of MissMalini Entertainment, formally parting ways with the brand she had built over seventeen years. Announcing the move on social media, she described MissMalini as her "soul project" and said she was confident in its future under Creativefuel, which she called a content-first company and the perfect next step in the brand's evolution.
The brand continues under Creativefuel's ownership, publishing entertainment and lifestyle content at missmalini.com and across its social channels. The influencer management business that was once part of MissMalini Entertainment remains with the Good Glamm Group. Agarwal, meanwhile, has moved on to new ventures, closing the chapter on one of the longest founder tenures in Indian digital media.
Legacy in Indian Digital Media
MissMalini's historical significance lies in its pioneering role. Founded in 2008, it was among India's very first lifestyle blogging platforms — predating the influencer economy, the creator funds and the brand-deal industrial complex by the better part of a decade. Agarwal was one of the country's earliest digital creators to build a sustainable business around personal media, and the company's evolution from blog to multi-vertical entertainment business traced the professionalisation of Indian internet culture itself.
The platform's "positive-only" editorial philosophy, its insider access to Bollywood, and its community products such as Girl Tribe shaped how a generation of Indian digital media companies approached celebrity coverage and audience building. Whatever its corporate future under new ownership, MissMalini's place as a foundational brand of India's digital entertainment era is secure — the blog that taught Indian celebrities, and Indian advertisers, that the internet was where culture now happened.
