My Weekly Preview is a free weekly gloss magazine published on Queensland's Sunshine Coast by the independent, family-owned Sunshine Coast Publishing. Delivered fresh to homes every Thursday, it blends local news, lifestyle features, entertainment, community coverage and property content for one of Australia's fastest-growing coastal regions. The magazine is the anchor publication of its publishing house — in its submission to the federal parliamentary inquiry into Australia's regional newspapers, the company described My Weekly Preview as its primary product and "the largest circulating magazine of its type in the area".
The magazine reached a notable milestone at the start of 2025, when its Issue 840, dated 2 January 2025, was selected by Sunshine Coast Council for inclusion in the Letters to 2050 time capsule at the Caloundra Administration Building. The council's inventory described it as "a 100% locally owned magazine, proudly reflecting the Sunshine Coast community", delivered every Thursday, with home-delivered copies wrapped in biodegradable plastic. It continues to publish through 2025 and 2026, with its journalism syndicated and indexed by media monitoring services and its coverage cited in the Sunshine Coast's Horizon Festival 2026 impact reporting.
My Weekly Preview is published by Sunshine Coast Publishing, an independent media business established by experienced local publishers Darryl Olson, Noel Olson, Michael Kramer and Anar Higgins. In its February 2022 submission to the House of Representatives inquiry into Australia's regional newspapers, the company described itself as a "100% Australian, family-owned and run media business" that had been servicing the Sunshine Coast region for the previous 14 years, with its owners holding more than 120 years of collective industry experience. The magazine's own numbering is consistent with that timeline: published weekly, it had reached Issue 840 by 2 January 2025.
For most of its life the magazine operated in a market dominated by News Corp Australia's Sunshine Coast Daily and its community titles. That landscape shifted abruptly in 2020, when News Corp withdrew its local print products from the region. Sunshine Coast Publishing responded by expanding: its submission to the inquiry records that, following the collapse and withdrawal of News Corp's local products, the company added the daily digital news site Sunshine Coast News to its family, assisted in part by the federal government's Public Interest News Gathering (PING) program. The site grew quickly — the company told the inquiry it had built a daily following in the tens of thousands within a little over a year — while My Weekly Preview continued as the group's print flagship.
Through the 2010s the magazine also published digital editions through the Issuu platform, sharing a stable with the group's over-55s title Your Time, whose Brisbane edition was likewise distributed digitally. The magazine has remained a fixture of Sunshine Coast civic life: the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce scheduled a business networking event at My Weekly Preview's premises in November 2025, and the magazine is a Champion Circle partner of Wishlist, the Sunshine Coast hospital foundation.
My Weekly Preview is a news and lifestyle magazine rather than a hard-news newspaper. Its pages mix reported local stories with features on food and agribusiness, arts and entertainment, community events, health, homes and property. Monitoring records from 2026 show its journalists covering stories such as the 2026 Sunshine Coast Music Awards, held at The Shed at Palmview; auditions for the Stars alive! youth talent competition presented by the Noosa Alive! festival; and the Food and Agribusiness Network's Meet the Makers event, which profiled the Gosling founders of the Coyo yoghurt brand. Journalist Bayley Olson is among its current bylines.
Earlier editions illustrate the magazine's established feature style: a 2022 feature story marked NAIDOC Week with interviews with First Nations residents and a profile of the Indigenous family services organisation REFOCUS, and its entertainment coverage has ranged from international ballet productions touring to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast to local festivals and markets. Real estate and property content is a significant component, suited to a region in sustained population growth, and the magazine carries extensive local advertising and promotional features for Sunshine Coast businesses, venues and events.
The magazine's audience is the Sunshine Coast community — a region stretching from Caloundra through Maroochydore and Mooloolaba to Noosa, with a population drawn by the coastal lifestyle and a large community of retirees and sea-changers alongside growing numbers of young families. It is delivered free to homes every Thursday, and the publisher has described it as the largest circulating magazine of its type in the area. Its sister titles widen the group's reach: the quarterly gloss lifestyle magazine Salt, and Your Time Magazine, the group's Plus 55 publication for older readers, which is published on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane — the source of the group's presence in the Brisbane market. The group's daily website, Sunshine Coast News, reaches a daily audience the company measured in the tens of thousands shortly after launch, complementing the magazine's weekly print reach.
My Weekly Preview's own website is myweeklypreview.com.au. The group's principal digital news presence is Sunshine Coast News (sunshinecoastnews.com.au), the daily news website launched after News Corp's 2020 print withdrawal and described by the publishers as heralding "a bold new era for the company"; the magazine's stories feed into the group's digital output and are indexed by media monitoring services such as Muck Rack, which carried My Weekly Preview articles through 2026. Digital editions of the group's magazines were published on the Issuu platform during the 2010s, including Brisbane editions of Your Time. The magazine's role in the region's media ecosystem was recognised in the Horizon Festival's 2026 post-festival impact report, which listed My Weekly Preview among the outlets providing media coverage of the festival, held between February and May 2026.
My Weekly Preview is owned and published by Sunshine Coast Publishing, an independent, 100 per cent Australian family-owned company based on the Sunshine Coast. The business was developed by publishers Darryl Olson, Noel Olson, Michael Kramer and Anar Higgins, and its publishing stable comprises My Weekly Preview as the anchor title, the quarterly Salt magazine, the Your Time over-55s magazine published on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast News daily digital masthead. The company gave evidence to the federal inquiry into Australia's regional journalism in 2022, arguing the case for independent local news networks and describing how it had expanded into digital daily news after News Corp's withdrawal from the region. The magazine's editorial team works from the Sunshine Coast — its premises hosted a Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce event in November 2025 — and its journalists, including Bayley Olson, report across the region.
My Weekly Preview is published weekly and delivered free to homes across the Sunshine Coast every Thursday. Its website is myweeklypreview.com.au, and the publishing group's daily news site is sunshinecoastnews.com.au. The publisher, Sunshine Coast Publishing, is based on the Sunshine Coast in the Maroochydore area; readers, community groups and advertisers can contact the magazine through the details published on its website and in each edition's masthead. Community organisations across the region — including the Wishlist health foundation, local chambers of commerce and festival organisers — work with the magazine as a media partner for events and announcements.
