New York Post

The New York Post is America's oldest continuously published daily newspaper — a conservative tabloid founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1801, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp since 1976.

About New York Post

The New York Post is an American daily tabloid newspaper published in New York City. It was founded on November 16, 1801 as the New-York Evening Post by Alexander Hamilton, the Federalist Founding Father and the nation's first treasury secretary. It describes itself as America's oldest continuously published daily newspaper, and its most notable 19th-century editor was the poet William Cullen Bryant.

In 1976, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation bought the Post for $30.5 million, and it has been a unit of News Corp ever since. Under Murdoch the paper became famous for its sensationalist headlines and conservative editorial stance, and as of 2026 it ranks among the largest U.S. newspapers by print circulation. Beyond print, the Post operates NYPost.com, the celebrity-gossip site Page Six, and the entertainment site Decider. Keith Poole serves as editor-in-chief (group).

The paper's editorial offices are at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. It publishes in tabloid format, primarily distributed across New York City and its surrounding area, with a growing national digital audience.
