About NE-WS 89.4
NE-WS 89.4
NE-WS 89.4 is the local radio for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss — "Euer Radio für den Rhein-Kreis Neuss": the daily local programme on FM 89.4 MHz across the entire district, with a support frequency on 102.1 MHz for Grevenbroich and the southern parts — the district's own radio, the 89.4's local programme, the 102.1's support — the own's Rhein-Kreis, the local's FM, the support's Grevenbroich. The morning show (6–10) is hosted by Timo Gerke and his team; editor-in-chief Tony Kaufmann coordinates the editorial line — short news bulletins every half and full hour covering Neuss, Dormagen, Grevenbroich, Kaarst, Korschenbroich, Meerbusch and Jüchen — the Timo Gerke's mornings, the Kaufmann's redaktionelle direction, the bulletins' towns — the mornings' 6–10, the direction's Kaufmann, the towns' seven. Every evening the Bürgerfunk (citizen radio) gives local clubs, schools and initiatives their own platform on air — the evenings' citizen radio, the Vereine's platform, the Schulen's airtime — the evenings' Bürgerfunk, the platform's Vereine, the airtime's Initiativen. The operator is the Lokalradio Kreis Neuss GmbH & Co. KG; the signal is transmitted from the Düsseldorf Rheinturm at 1 kW (until 1996 from the Willich-Schiefbahn tower at 200 watts) — reaching east to Ratingen, west into the Dutch Venlo and south into the northern Eifel — the GmbH & Co. KG's operation, the Rheinturm's kilowatt, the reach's triangle — the operation's Lokalradio, the kilowatt's 1 kW, the triangle's borders. The RDS code is "NEWS89,4". Address: Zülpicher Str. 10, 40196 Düsseldorf — the RDS's "NEWS89,4", the Zülpicher Strasse's editorial home, the 40196's Düsseldorf — the code's display, the home's editorial, the Düsseldorf's 40196. The station also runs genre streams on radio.de: Urban, Lounge, Weihnachten, Top40, New Country, Singer/Songwriter and Love Radio — the Urban's beats, the Lounge's calm, the Weihnachten's season — the beats' urban, the calm's lounge, the season's Christmas.
Overview
NE-WS 89.4 broadcasts the local programme for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss on FM 89.4 — transmitted from the Düsseldorf Rheinturm at 1 kilowatt, with a support frequency of 102.1 MHz (from the Grevenbroich-Süd tower, 250 watts) for Grevenbroich and the southern district — the 89.4's main frequency, the 102.1's Stützfrequenz, the Grevenbroich-Süd's 250 watts — the main's 89.4, the Stützfrequenz's 102.1, the watts' 250. The relocation from the Willich-Schiefbahn tower (200 watts, until 1996) immensely enlarged the reach: reception stretches east to Ratingen, west into the Netherlands (Venlo), and south into the northern Eifel — the Verlagerung's 1996, the immens's vergrößert, the triangle's Ratingen-Venlo-Nordeifel — the 1996's move, the vergrößert's immensity, the triangle's reach. The RDS code reads "NEWS89,4". Since May 2016 the operation of the FM frequencies has been the responsibility of Uplink Network Düsseldorf, which replaced the Bundespost successor Media Broadcast in the course of market liberalization — the Mai 2016's Uplink, the Media Broadcast's historic replacement, the Marktliberalisierung's course.
The programme's centre is the daily local schedule: mornings between six and ten Timo Gerke hosts with his team; the editorial team insists that listeners know exactly what happens on their doorstep — traffic updates by the minute when the commuter rush or construction sites jam the district's roads — the tägliche Lokalprogramm's beating centre, the sechs-bis-zehn's mornings, the Minutentakt's updates. News bulletins at the full and half hour bring the most important reports from Neuss, Dormagen, Grevenbroich, Kaarst, Korschenbroich, Meerbusch and Jüchen to the point — the vollen und halben Stunde's Kurznachrichten, the seven towns' vital reports, the auf den Punkt's brevity. Nationwide campaigns and clients are handled by Radio NRW in Oberhausen; local radio advertising marketing is outsourced to the Pressefunk Düsseldorf GmbH, a subsidiary of the Rheinische Post — the landesweite Kampagnen's Oberhausen, the Pressefunk's Düsseldorf, the great Rheinische Post's Tochter.
History
NE-WS 89.4 is the Rhein-Kreis Neuss's local radio within the Radio NRW framework — one of the NRW local stations whose statewide mantle programming comes from Radio NRW in Oberhausen while the local editorial team in the district produces the local windows — the Radio NRW's NRW Rahmen, the Mantelprogramm's Oberhausen, the Lokalfenster's Neuss. Until 1996 the station broadcast from the Willich-Schiefbahn telecommunications tower at 200 watts; the move to the Düsseldorf Rheinturm with 1 kW immensely enlarged its reach — the 1996's Fernmeldeturm, the 200 Watt's modest power, the Rheinturm's kilowatt. After the relocation of the 89.4 MHz there were plans in 1999 to switch off the Grevenbroich frequency — for a few days an announcement loop played, but listener reactions brought the programme back on air — the 1999's Abschaltpläne, the Ansageschleife's few days, the Hörerreaktionen's victory.
The Grevenbroich 102.1 MHz frequency is unluckily chosen: already in parts of Rommerskirchen RPR1 Studio Trier from the high Scharteberg/Eifel overlays or disturbs the Grevenbroich local station on 102.1; in the southwest on the A44, behind Jüchen at the border with the Düren district, NE-WS 89.4 is already displaced on its main frequency by Class.21 from Welkenraedt/Belgium — the unglücklich's 102.1, the Scharteberg's interference, the Class.21's Belgium.
Programming
The daily local programme runs in the mornings and at drive times: Timo Gerke and his team host the 6–10 show; short news every half and full hour covers the district's towns — Neuss, Dormagen, Grevenbroich, Kaarst, Korschenbroich, Meerbusch and Jüchen — the mornings' 6–10, the drive times' afternoons, the towns' seven. Traffic and weather updates keep commuters informed by the minute — the Verkehrs's updates, the Wetter's forecasts, the Pendler's minutes. Every evening the Bürgerfunk gives local clubs, schools and initiatives their own platform in the ether to present their projects — editor-in-chief Tony Kaufmann coordinates the editorial direction, which deliberately sets itself apart from large anonymous national waves: the moderators speak the listeners' language, without artificial excitement or imposed phrases — the Bürgerfunk's evenings, the Kaufmann's coordination, the Sprache der Hörer's authenticity.
The genre streams on radio.de extend the brand: NE-WS 89.4 – Dein Urban Radio, Dein Lounge Radio, Dein Weihnachts Radio, Dein Top40 Radio, Dein New Country Radio, Dein Singer/Songwriter Radio and Dein Love Radio — the local station's digital siblings — the Top40's hits, the New Country's twang, the Singer/Songwriter's intimacy.
