About Rogers TV Brantford

Rogers TV Brantford

Overview

Rogers TV Brantford is the community cable channel for Brantford, Ontario, carried on channel 20 of the Rogers cable system in the city and its surrounding area. It is one of the local channels of Rogers TV, the English-language community channel network operated by Rogers Communications, but it is a genuinely distinct outlet rather than a relay of the network's Ottawa anchor or of any other station: it produces programming specifically for Brantford, most visibly its telecasts of Brantford Bulldogs hockey and its Brantford election coverage under The Local Campaign banner. Since September 2023, under a broadcast partnership announced by the Bulldogs, every Bulldogs home game and all available road games have been carried on Rogers tv 20, and in September 2026 the channel presented the 2026 City of Brantford Mayoral Debate ahead of that autumn's municipal election. Around those local productions, the schedule follows the Rogers TV community model — staff-produced and community access programming, civic coverage and local events, made with volunteers and community partners — and the channel is available only to Rogers cable subscribers in the Brantford area, with listings in the Brantford section of rogerstv.com.

History

Community television in Brantford has been delivered through the city's cable system for decades, and the channel took its present identity with the rest of the Rogers network: the community stations were rebranded from Rogers Television to Rogers TV in April 2008, following the earlier February 2002 rebrand to Rogers Television, and the service was relaunched under refreshed branding on 1 September 2016. The channel's modern history is defined by two network turning points. In 2017 Rogers closed its community stations in the Greater Toronto Area and redirected its community programming effort to its remaining small and medium-sized markets; Brantford, carried on channel 20, was among the stations that continued. Then, in 2023, major junior hockey came to the city when the Brantford Bulldogs began play, and on 29 September 2023 the club and the Ontario Hockey League announced the broadcast partnership that made Rogers tv the television home of the team from its first Brantford season, the 2023-24 campaign. The partnership gave the community channel a marquee local sports property, and the club's broadcasts have continued on channel 20 since, with the arrangement still being listed by opposing clubs for games involving Brantford in the 2025-26 season.

Programming and Content

Brantford Bulldogs hockey is the channel's flagship local production. Under the partnership announced on 29 September 2023, all Bulldogs home games and all available road games air on Rogers tv 20 in Brantford, with games also placed on the Rogers Preview Channel 430; the telecasts are called by play-by-play announcer Reed Duthie, joined on home games by Norm Miller and Troy Izlakar — a broadcast team that was entering its eighth season together when the Brantford arrangement began, having worked together through the club's previous seasons. A slate of Bulldogs games is also carried on Cable 14 in neighbouring Hamilton, which Rogers co-owns. The Bulldogs' presence on the Brantford channel is not a one-season arrangement: the Kitchener Rangers' published broadcast information listed Rogers TV channel 20 telecasts for games involving Brantford in January 2025, and again for the 2025-26 season opener in September 2025.

Election coverage is the channel's other signature local strand, produced under Rogers TV's The Local Campaign banner for Ontario municipal elections. In 2022 the channel carried the Brantford Ward 5 candidates debate, recorded on 15 September 2022 and presented by the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant. For the 2026 municipal election — voting day is Monday, 26 October 2026 — the channel presented the 2026 City of Brantford Mayoral Debate, staged by the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant together with the Brantford Home Builders Association and published on the Rogers tv YouTube channel in September 2026. The rest of the schedule follows the network's community model: programmes produced by Rogers staff alongside access programming proposed by local residents and organizations, with production carried out by staff working with volunteers and community partners, and the majority of programming produced in the station's own region.

Audience and Reach

Rogers TV Brantford is available only to subscribers of the Rogers cable service in Brantford and the surrounding communities of its service area, on channel 20; it is not offered by other television providers and cannot be received over the air. Its audience is therefore the cable households of a single-city market — Brantford and its immediate area in Brant County, in southwestern Ontario — for which the channel functions as the local television service: the carrier of the city's junior hockey team, of its municipal election debates, and of community programming made by and for local residents. Rogers does not publish ratings or audience figures for its individual community channels, and no Brantford-specific measurements are released. The figure the service itself publishes — that Rogers TV serves more than 2.3 million cable subscribers in the regions where Rogers operates cable systems — is a network-wide total and should not be read as this channel's audience.

Digital Presence

The channel's online home is the Brantford section of rogerstv.com, which publishes its programme listings and show pages in the same format as the rest of the network; its inventoried address is rogerstv.com/brantford/shows. Programming from the channel also reaches viewers beyond the cable schedule: the Rogers tv YouTube channel carries the station's Brantford productions, including the 2026 City of Brantford Mayoral Debate and the earlier 2022 ward debate, and some Rogers TV programming from across the network is available through the Rogers On Demand service. Because rogerstv.com has been blocked to automated research tools throughout this project, the fine detail of the Brantford channel's current streamed and on-demand offerings should be sighted on the live site at publish time; the channel's current operation is independently documented by the Bulldogs partnership, the club broadcast listings for the 2025-26 season, and the September 2026 mayoral debate.

Ownership and Organisation

Rogers TV Brantford is owned and operated by Rogers Communications through its cable division, as part of the Rogers TV network of English-language community channels; the network's French-language counterpart is TV Rogers, and Rogers also holds a stake in Cable 14, the Hamilton community channel that carries a slate of Bulldogs games alongside the Brantford channel. Canadian community channels operate within a CRTC framework under which cable companies devote a portion of their revenues to community programming that is expected to reflect the local community, and Rogers delivers that programming in Ontario through its local channels under common network branding, standards and management. In Brantford, production works to the network model — a small professional staff supplemented by volunteers and community partners — and its biggest undertakings are partnerships: the Bulldogs telecasts are produced with the hockey club, and the election debates are staged with the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant and local partners, rather than being fed from another station.

Contact and Availability

Rogers TV Brantford is available on channel 20 for Rogers cable subscribers in Brantford and the surrounding communities of its service area, as part of the basic cable service; it is not available from other television providers. Programme listings, show information, and details on volunteering or proposing a programme are published through the channel's section of the Rogers TV website, rogerstv.com/brantford. The channel does not publish a general public business email address, and none is listed in this profile.
