The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is a daily news publication based in Seattle, Washington, serving Seattle and the Puget Sound region. Founded in 1863 as the Seattle Gazette, it is one of the oldest newspapers in the Pacific Northwest.
Owned by Hearst Communications since 1921, the Post-Intelligencer made history as the first major U.S. metropolitan daily to go online-only, publishing its final print edition on March 17, 2009.
Today the paper continues as seattlepi.com, a digital news portal covering Seattle and the Puget Sound region.
