About Security insight
Security insight
Security insight is a German trade magazine for corporate security, published six times a year from Hahn Airport in Rhineland-Palatinate. Launched in 2008, it addresses security decision-makers in industry, business, associations, organizations, and public authorities, covering security services, access control, alarm and video technology, fire and disaster protection, and security management. Published by ProSecurity Publishing GmbH & Co. KG, the magazine combines practical solution reporting with background coverage of research, training, and management topics, and it operates the prosecurity.de web portal with a newsletter.
Overview
Security insight appears every two months and is aimed at the professionals responsible for protecting companies, institutions, and public bodies: corporate security managers, security officers in industry and public administration, and executives of security-service providers. Each issue is devoted to a focus topic, such as security for cultural institutions or for airports, around which the editors assemble background reports, practical solutions, and product news.
The editorial program covers the full spectrum of organizational security technology and services: manned guarding and security services, access-control systems, intrusion-detection technology, video surveillance, fire protection and disaster preparedness, and the management disciplines of risk analysis, security concepts, and crisis organization. Articles present new developments from manufacturers, document security solutions from practice for practice, and report on current service and consulting topics. The tone is professional and application-oriented, written for readers who must translate technology and regulation into working security operations. Interviews with security managers, association officials, and industry experts give the coverage a personal dimension, while reports from trade fairs and congresses keep readers connected to the sector's meeting places.
The magazine's distributed circulation was reported at 5,410 copies in the third quarter of 2019 under IVW audit, a figure that dates the last publicly cited audited number. Single issues are priced at nineteen euros for recent volumes, with annual subscriptions at 106 euros domestic, reflecting the specialist audience and the business-to-business advertising model.
History
Security insight first appeared in February 2008, published by the Sicherheits-Fachverlag Heide & Klaus, the specialist security publisher that also produced the SicherheitsPraxis journal. The launch addressed a structural development in German corporate security: as technical possibilities multiplied, so did the demands on security officers and the number of solution providers and concepts, creating a need for a dedicated journal that combined management perspective with technical depth.
In April 2013 the publishing house was renamed ProSecurity Publishing GmbH & Co. KG, the name under which it operates today from its base at Gebäude 664, 55483 Hahn-Flughafen, on the grounds of the former Hahn airbase-turned-commercial airport in the Hunsrück region. The Hahn location, unusual for a publishing house, reflects the company's origins and gives it a distinctive address in the German trade-press landscape.
Under editor-in-chief Peter Niggl, the magazine developed its focus-topic structure and its close cooperation with the security industry's associations. The nineteenth volume year in 2026 confirms nearly two decades of continuous bimonthly publication, during which the journal documented the sector's major shifts: the digitalization of security technology, the convergence of physical and IT security, the professionalization of security management, and the growing regulatory attention to critical-infrastructure protection. The move of the publishing house to the Hahn-Flughafen site placed it amid the logistics and aviation businesses that form part of its readership, a fitting address for a journal devoted to protecting operations.
Coverage and Content
The focus-topic model structures each issue around a theme of current relevance. Past cover topics have ranged from temporary mobile video surveillance for construction projects to the security challenges of major events, the fight against ransomware, and geopolitical developments affecting corporate security. Within each focus, the editors combine technology reporting, legal and organizational background, and case studies from practice. The magazine also examines the human side of security work: the training and qualification of security personnel, the working conditions in the guarding industry, and the leadership challenges of managing security teams around the clock.
Standing coverage includes security services and guarding, access control and identity management, intrusion and fire-alarm technology, video surveillance systems, and emergency and crisis management. Product news keeps readers current on manufacturer developments, while consulting and service topics address the outsourcing, tendering, and management of security functions. Association news from the partner organizations gives readers the institutional perspective of the organized security industry.
The magazine's concept explicitly addresses security decision-makers rather than technicians alone: the emphasis is on solutions, management, and strategy, with technology explained in terms of its organizational application. That positioning distinguishes it from purely technical journals and aligns it with the professionalization of the corporate-security function.
Organization and Ownership
Security insight is published by ProSecurity Publishing GmbH & Co. KG, based at Gebäude 664, D-55483 Hahn-Flughafen. The publishing management is led by Ilse Klaus, with Peter Niggl as editor-in-chief and a specialist editorial team covering alarm technology, video, and access control. The print ISSN is 1866-2420. The house also publishes the SicherheitsPraxis journal, giving it two complementary titles in the security press.
The magazine works closely with the associations of the security industry. Cooperation partners named in its media data include the ASW West, the Allianz für Sicherheit in der Wirtschaft West, the BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik, the Bavarian BVSW, and the VSW associations for security in business, whose news and positions appear in the magazine's pages. These partnerships embed the journal in the institutional communication of the sector. An editorial advisory board with industry figures supports the newsroom's connection to practice, and the magazine's events and special publications around security topics extend the brand beyond the printed page.
The business model is the trade-press standard: subscriptions from corporate security departments, authorities, and service providers; advertising from security-technology manufacturers, service companies, and consultants; and digital revenues from the website, newsletter, and business-guide directory entries.
Digital Presence
The brand's online home is prosecurity.de, which serves as both the magazine's website and a research portal for the security industry. The site carries news, product information, and the magazine's digital content, complemented by a newsletter with its own advertising formats. Media data for 2026 present the portfolio as a combination of the print magazine, the website, and the newsletter, with banner advertising, digital company-directory entries, and newsletter placements among the commercial products.
For a trade journal whose readers research technology online before specifying or purchasing, the portal's searchable archive extends the magazine's utility beyond the print cycle. The combination of the bimonthly print issues with the continuous digital news flow gives the brand presence across the rhythms in which security professionals consume information. The newsletter delivers curated updates to subscribers' inboxes, while the online business guide connects solution seekers with providers, completing the brand's function as a marketplace of security knowledge.
The Corporate-Security Journal
Security insight serves a profession that has grown in importance as companies face more complex threat landscapes, from cyber-physical attacks to supply-chain disruption and geopolitical risk. A journal that speaks to security decision-makers in their management language, while keeping them current on the technology they must evaluate, fills a precise need in the German security market. Published from an airport in the Hunsrück for nearly two decades, it has become a fixture of the industry's information infrastructure, trusted by the officers who keep the country's companies running safely.
