The Manhattan Mercury is a daily newspaper based in Manhattan, Kansas, serving Manhattan, Riley County and the Kansas State University community. Published Tuesday through Saturday, it is the daily newspaper of record for the Flint Hills region of northeastern Kansas.
Founded May 9, 1884, the Mercury became a daily newspaper on February 8, 1909. It has been owned by the Seaton family since Fay N. Seaton bought the paper in 1915; five generations of the family have run the newspaper, with Ned Seaton serving as publisher. Its 2026 masthead describes it as being in the paper's 113th year as a daily.
Published by Seaton Publishing Co., Inc., the Mercury reports on local government, Kansas State University, schools, business, sports and community life across the Manhattan area.
