About Women Love Tech

Women Love Tech

Overview

Women Love Tech is an Australian online technology publication written for women, published from Sydney by Foyster Media Pty Ltd. Founded in 2011 and edited and published by veteran magazine journalist Robyn Foyster, it covers consumer technology, artificial intelligence and emerging tech, apps and gadgets, gaming, smart homes, and the careers of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Its stated aim is to make technology accessible, engaging and empowering for female readers, combining news reported by journalists with hands-on product reviews, interviews and career profiles. Women Love Tech is the founding title of the Women Love Network, a group of Foyster Media sites that also includes The Carousel, Women Love Travel, Women Love Wellness and the Game Changers interview series. It describes itself as award-winning, and its recent honours include Best Corporate Content at the 2025 Samsung IT Journalism Awards, known as the Lizzies.

History

Women Love Tech was founded in 2011, and is the original title in what became Foyster Media's network of women's digital publications. Its founder, Robyn Foyster, brought an unusually senior print pedigree to a digital startup. She is the only person to have edited and published Australia's three biggest magazine brands — The Australian Women's Weekly, Woman's Day and New Idea — and her career included group publisher roles at ACP Magazines and Bauer Media, where she oversaw titles including Harper's BAZAAR, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Good Health and Madison, as well as a stint as Managing Director of Hearst Australia and as lifestyle editor of the Seven Network's Sunrise. She was named Editor of the Year at the 2007 Magazine Publishers' Awards, and under her editorship The Australian Women's Weekly won the inaugural 2008 Australian Magazine Award for best mass-market magazine while New Idea won the Magazine Publishers of Australia Magazine of the Year award.

Foyster founded Foyster Media in 2014 as the corporate home for her digital ventures. The site won the Innovation Category at the 2013 Australian Web Awards, an early recognition the publication still cites, and Women Love Tech grew from a standalone website into the anchor of a stable: The Carousel for premium women's lifestyle content, Women Love Travel, Women Love Wellness, and Game Changers, a video and podcast interview series with business and technology leaders that Foyster hosts and executive-produces. She has also worked on the product side of technology, serving on the board of an ASX-listed tech company, leading AR Technologies as managing director — the team behind the 2019 Vivid Sydney app — and founding Sweep, an augmented-reality shopping app that was a finalist in the 2019 Finder Awards. Earlier in her career she had broken ground as a young reporter, appointed Australia's first female racing reporter at 22 before moving to London to write for Fleet Street's Today newspaper. At SXSW Sydney in 2023 she curated and moderated panels on machine learning, gender bias and the visibility of women in tech, and announced her book Gamechangers: 100 Women Disrupting Tech. The site continued to collect industry recognition into the mid-2020s: Foyster Media won Best Corporate Content at the 2025 Lizzies and was a finalist in ten categories, and Foyster was named on the 2026 B&T Women Leading Tech Power List.

Content and Coverage

The site organises its journalism into clear strands. Tech News covers the technology stories its editors judge to matter to Australian women, from consumer launches to industry moves, policy and the women making headlines. AI and Emerging Tech carries deeper reporting on artificial intelligence, agentic AI and the technologies reshaping work and life, including interviews with executives and founders. Reviews are hands-on assessments of phones, laptops, wearables, audio equipment and beauty tech by experienced consumer technology writers. Apps and Gadgets rounds up tools for productivity, wellbeing, family and fun; Gaming covers games news and profiles of women in the games industry; and Smart Home publishes practical guides to connected living, from smart speakers and security to energy-saving technology.

A defining strand is Careers and Women in STEM, which profiles women working in science, technology, engineering and maths and publishes practical career advice intended to help close the gender gap in technology. The site's podcasts and videos extend that mission in interview form; its own about page cites conversations with guests including Vanessa E. Wyche, director of NASA's Johnson Space Center, and Katherine Bennell-Pegg, the 2026 Australian of the Year. Editorial content is written by journalists and accredited experts, with bylines linked to author profiles, and the publisher states that sponsored content and affiliate relationships are disclosed where they appear.

Audience and Reach

Women Love Tech's audience is women who use technology in their careers, businesses, homes and family lives, from graduates entering STEM fields to executives leading digital transformation. According to the publisher, its fastest-growing audience segment is women aged 18 to 25, many of them gamers — a readership profile that explains the prominence of gaming and consumer reviews alongside career content. The publication does not publish an independently audited audience figure, and none is claimed here; its reach is best evidenced by its longevity since 2011, its recognition in technology journalism awards, and its founder's profile as a speaker and commentator at events including SXSW Sydney. Although written from Australia for Australian women in the first instance, the site addresses a global English-speaking audience, and its network siblings extend the same readership into lifestyle, travel and wellness content.

Digital Presence

Women Love Tech is a digital-native publication: the website, womenlovetech.com, is its primary product, supported by podcast and video output and by the social and syndication channels common to Foyster Media's network. Content is published continuously rather than in editions, and stories cross-promote the sister titles in the Women Love Network, giving the small independent publisher a broader content surface than a single site would suggest. The network has also expanded into mentoring, with Foyster Media describing a global mentoring platform connecting women with industry leaders in STEM attached to the Women Love Tech brand. The site carries an editorial standards statement committing to byline transparency, disclosure of sponsored material and prompt correction of errors.

Ownership and Organisation

Women Love Tech is owned and published by Foyster Media Pty Ltd, an independent Australian media company founded by Robyn Foyster and based in Sydney, New South Wales. Foyster serves as both editor and publisher. Her editorial team, as listed by the publication, includes Marie-Antoinette Issa as lifestyle editor across the network's women's titles, Elise Strachan and Emma Crameri, with contributors including veteran technology and sustainability journalist Pamela Connellan, journalist and television producer Giulia Sirignani, Ilona Marchetta and UK-based author Lucy Broadbent. Foyster also sits at the centre of the wider Women Love Network, hosting the Game Changers podcast and video series. Her wider roles include judging the Telstra Business Awards over eight years and mentoring in the Taronga Hatch Accelerator Programme, according to published speaker biographies.
