Simplify360
Overview
Simplify360 is a Bengaluru-based software company that built its name in social media monitoring and analytics and later developed into an artificial intelligence-powered customer experience and support platform. Its software helps businesses listen to what people say about them online, respond across channels, analyse sentiment and manage customer service in one place. The company is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with a presence in India and the United States and partners across the Asia-Pacific region, and its products have been marketed in more than 100 countries directly or through partners.
The firm began as an Indian answer to a global problem. As brands moved onto Facebook, Twitter and other social platforms in the late 2000s, they suddenly faced thousands of public comments, complaints and questions that did not arrive through a call centre or an email inbox. Simplify360 offered a software-as-a-service platform, sold by subscription, that gathered those conversations, classified them and presented them through dashboards so marketing, customer service and research teams could act on them.
History and Founding
Simplify360 was started in 2009 by a team of six co-founders: Bhupendra Khanal, Rohit Gupta, Sweta Sharma, Deep Sherchan, Binit Thapa and Laxmi Khatiwada. The operating company was InRev Systems Pvt Ltd, offering the Simplify360 platform. Sources differ on how later corporate dates are presented, with some company profiles giving 2012 as an establishment date for the developed business, but the founding of Simplify360 itself is consistently traced to 2009 and its early operations to the period that followed.
The product was officially launched in 2011 at technology events in Chicago and Bangalore, according to company history summaries. A beta version had been introduced in September 2010. By May 2013 the company said it had more than 100 paying clients globally and was close to raising a Series A round, having previously raised seed funding in October the previous year from Amvensys Capital. It had also received earlier angel funding, including from a Texas-based investor group, Amvensys Capital Group. Those details place Simplify360 among the early Indian software-as-a-service exporters, selling an India-built product to customers in the United States, Asia-Pacific, Europe and other markets from a Bengaluru base.
Founders and Leadership
Bhupendra Khanal was the best-known early public face of the company and is described as the founder who started Simplify360 in 2009. In a 2014 interview he rejected rumours that the company was simply up for sale, saying the team wanted to build a strong global venture while remaining open to a strategic partner that supported its long-term vision. By the time of the company's acquisition a decade later, Rohit Gupta was leading it as co-founder and chief executive officer. Profiles of Gupta note earlier experience as a software engineer at Cisco and as a technology lead at Pyramis Global Advisors.
Laxmi Khatiwada is listed as a co-founder and chief operating officer, with a background in software development and earlier service as chief financial officer. Deep Sherchan served as co-founder and chief marketing officer in the company's early growth period and was its public spokesperson in funding and client announcements in 2013. These roles are worth recording because Simplify360 was a team founding rather than a single-founder start-up, combining product, engineering, marketing and operations experience from the outset.
Services and Products
The original Simplify360 suite combined four functions that had often been sold separately: listening, engaging, publishing and analysing. Social media monitoring gathered mentions from platforms including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Social engagement and social customer relationship management allowed teams to respond and manage cases. Analytics classified social data by sentiment, demographics, region, gender, topic and intent, and research reports published by Simplify360 Research examined patterns on major social channels.
As customer communication widened beyond social media, so did the product. Later company descriptions present Simplify360 as an omnichannel digital customer service platform covering email, live chat, WhatsApp, location reviews, app reviews, e-commerce mentions and social channels. Named products in recent profiles include SimplyBot for conversational artificial intelligence, SimplyCare for customer engagement, and SimplyReviews and SimplySocial for review, social media management and reputation control. The common thread is aggregation: bringing non-voice customer conversations into a single system with real-time dashboards and artificial intelligence embedded in the workflow.
Technology and Language Capability
The core technology claim from the company's early years was real-time analysis of large volumes of social data. The tool automatically classified conversations so a brand could separate praise from complaints, identify the subject of a discussion and understand where and by whom it was being held. That classification was made available through a web interface with dashboards, allowing users to move from monitoring to engagement without exporting the data into a separate system.
Language was an important differentiator for an India-based company selling internationally. Contemporary coverage noted analytics in more than 27 languages and customers in markets such as South Korea, where a large share of online conversation was in local languages rather than English. For Indian brands the same point applied in reverse: customers write in English, Hindi and many regional languages, often mixing them, so a listening tool that only handled standard English would miss much of the conversation that affects reputation and service.
Clients and Markets
Early client lists named by the company and in trade coverage included Yamaha, Wipro, Accenture, Star TV, Mahindra Retail, ITC Foods, Cafe Coffee Day, Future Group and Spar Hypermarket, alongside customers in sectors from airlines and telecom to healthcare and retail. At the time of its acquisition in 2023, the acquirer's announcement said Simplify360 enabled more than 5,000 global businesses to deliver customer support and named Amazon, Honda, HP, Nestle, HDFC, Hyundai, Canon and Xiaomi among its customers. The two lists describe different stages of the company's life and should not be merged into a single current client roster.
The customer categories the company targeted were consistent: enterprises, small and medium businesses, media agencies, research and analytics communities and customer support organisations. Besides India and the United States, early expansion was reported in Malaysia, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, with channel partners in most foreign markets except the United States, and newer partner expansion toward South Korea and Brazil. That partner-led model is typical of software firms of its size, allowing local sales and support without opening a full office in every country.
Acquisition by Nextiva
On 19 April 2023 Nextiva, a conversation platform based in Scottsdale, Arizona, announced that it had acquired Simplify360. The purchase price was not disclosed. Nextiva said the acquisition added social media, reputation management, live chat and helpdesk customer relationship management to its offerings, and that it would accelerate a shared mission to bring communication channels together into a single stream of conversations with productivity, customer management and collaboration tools.
Nextiva's chief executive and co-founder Tomas Gorny presented the deal as a way to level the playing field so businesses of all sizes could access advanced customer experience technology. For Nextiva, the acquisition also opened a stronger route into the Asia-Pacific market. For Simplify360, described after the deal as a Nextiva company, it meant its social-first artificial intelligence platform became part of a larger business communications platform used, according to Nextiva, by more than 100,000 businesses. The Bengaluru operation therefore remains significant both as a product centre and as an example of an Indian software product absorbed into a global platform through acquisition rather than closed or displaced.
Role in the Indian Media and Marketing Ecosystem
Simplify360 is included in a media directory not because it publishes news, but because news organisations, broadcasters and the brands that advertise with them use listening tools to understand and respond to audiences. A television channel or publisher promoting a programme, handling a complaint or tracking reaction to a story faces the same fragmented conversation as any consumer brand. Tools of this kind also serve agencies that manage social accounts and online reputation for media and entertainment clients, a relationship reflected in Star TV appearing among the early customers named in company coverage.
More broadly, Simplify360 illustrates the growth of Bengaluru as a centre for media-adjacent technology. The city supplied the engineering talent and the software-as-a-service business model; the customers were global marketing and service teams. Its research reports on Facebook and Twitter behaviour in its early years were themselves a form of trade publishing, giving marketers benchmarks at a time when social media practice in India was still being defined.
Digital Presence and How to Access It
Simplify360's official website is simplify360.com, and since 2023 it has been presented as part of Nextiva, whose website is nextiva.com. Businesses interested in the platform normally approach it as an enterprise software purchase: a demonstration, a subscription based on channels, users and volumes, and integration with the organisation's existing service and social accounts. It is not a free consumer application, although marketers and researchers may encounter its published research and product material publicly online.
Anyone evaluating Simplify360 today should read its history in two parts. The first is the independent Bengaluru start-up founded in 2009 that built a multilingual social listening and analytics suite and won more than 100 clients within a few years of launch. The second is the post-2023 Nextiva business, focused on omnichannel customer experience across email, chat, reviews, e-commerce and social media for thousands of businesses worldwide. Keeping those phases distinct gives an accurate picture of both the company's Indian origins and its present ownership.
